Modern Day Slavery Statement
Financial Year 2025/2026
Introduction
Brighter Futures Social Investment CIC (the “Organisation”) is committed to ethical business practices and the eradication of modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. This statement outlines the steps we have taken during the financial year [2025/2026] to ensure that slavery and forced labour do not exist in our operations or supply chains, as required by Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Organisational Structure & Supply Chains
Brighter Futures is a “community interest company providing social investment and support to underserved communities. We prioritise working with local, ethical, and socially responsible suppliers.
Policies on Modern Slavery
We operate under the following policies to prevent modern slavery:
- Anti-Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy: Prohibits forced labour and requires suppliers to adhere to ethical standards.
- Whistleblowing Policy: Encourages staff and partners to report concerns without fear of retaliation.
- Supplier Code of Conduct: Mandates that suppliers comply with labour laws, including fair wages and safe working conditions.
Due Diligence & Risk Assessment
To identify and mitigate risks:
- We assess new suppliers for compliance with modern slavery laws before engagement.
- High-risk areas (e.g., outsourced services) undergo additional scrutiny.
- We prioritise UK-based suppliers and small businesses to reduce complex supply chain risks.
Training & Awareness
All staff receive basic training on recognising modern slavery risks, and procurement teams undergo enhanced due diligence training.
Effectiveness & Future Steps
We measure effectiveness through:
- Annual supplier audits (where feasible).
- Staff feedback on training and policies.
In the next year, we will: - Expand supplier assessments to include more detailed checks.
- Collaborate with industry groups to share best practices.
